"Common Sense" for Authors and Book Clubs

Growing up in New Mexico and Arizona, Lisa Bear Goldman has always had a special love for the Southwest as well as respect and admiration for Hispanic and Native American cultures. She spent her early years in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico, then attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where she completed her Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Lisa currently works as a counselor for Albuquerque Public Schools and resides in Placitas, New Mexico. Her work as a counselor has led to a desire to pass on to children some guidance in dealing with emotions, her purpose in writing Amadito and Spider Woman. She has also been inspired by the Sonoran desert, which provides the background for the story.

Lisa has written one children's book, Amadito and Spider Woman, published by Kiva Publishing. The Tucson/Pima Public Library included Amadito and Spider Woman in its picks for Southwest books of the Year, and it was also a finalist for a Nautilus Award.
